1 lakh rupees spent on onions and got 1 Rupee
Onion seems to be making farmers cry.. While this incident was fresh when a farmer from Solapur received a check of Rs 2 for 512 kg onions, Bavi Namdev Latpete, a farmer from Ashti taluka of Beed, had taken 8 quintals of 44 kg onions to the Ahmednagar market for sale. After deducting all the expenses due to fall in prices, the farmer has got only Rs 1. A question mark has arisen on the government’s purchase of onions from Nafed.
