BITM Organises Public Lecture & Panel Discussion

The first National Space Science Exhibition – hosted by the Centre of Excellence in Space Sciences India, IISER Kolkata in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation, the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Science City, Birla Industrial and Technological Museum along with city based partner organisations including the Presidency University, University of Calcutta and St. Xavier’s College – is being organised this week across the city.


As a part of the event, the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), a Unit of National Council of Science Museums, Union Ministry of Culture, presented a public lecture and panel discussion – hosting several women space scientists and entrepreneurs in a free flowing discussion about challenges and opportunities in space sciences today.


From 10.30 am – 11.30 am, the public lecture – A Behind the Scenes Look at Planning and Operations of Space Missions was organised, where the speaker was, Smt Nandini Harinath, ISRO. From 11.30 am – 1.00 pm, the panel discussion – Women in Space Science was organised. The speakers were
Smt Shyama Narendranath (ISRO), Smt Nandini Harinath (ISRO), Smt S. Seetha (Raman Research Institute), Smt Devleena Bhatacharjee (Numer8 Analytics), Smt Nikhitha C (Genex Space) and Smt Avyarthana Ghosh (TCS Research).

Both the sessions took place at the BITM premises with 250 students, teachers and general audiences and live streamed on the BITM YouTube channel at  https://youtu.be/RTzEwJaPoxQ.
